About this session
Building on the first session’s discussion of critical geography, this session brings questions of power, representation, and whose knowledge counts into dialogue with humanistic geography’s attention to lived experience and place. How can these perspectives together inform the development and use of GeoAI? Drawing on Yi-Fu Tuan’s ideas about place and experience, this session considers how emotion, meaning, and care can shape research questions and model choices. Mindfulness and phenomenology offer further ways to examine how people encounter AI in everyday life and how these encounters change their relationships with place.
